As you may have guessed, we Love2ride trials!
Despite a rich 50+ year history, moto-trials is a lesser known disciple of dirt biking relatively speaking. Trials riders aim to master the controls while navigating technical obstacles and tricky corners whilst keeping their feet on the pegs. As the level of rider ability increases, the challenges seem impossible to ride without mistake.
Trials competition is generally very spectator friendly and we encourage our visitors to browse clubs, events, and content.

The latest electric options are claimed to match or even outperform their petrol-driven cousins. They are starting to win major competitions. Yamaha’s TY-E making history by winning the the top class in the 2025 All Japan Trial Championship. Honda’s RTL Electric also had some wins in the same series in late 2024. Electric trials bikes are now established as highly competitive machines, offering excellent control, precision, and less maintenance, and are redefining the sport. http://wdtc.org.au How to choose the right trials bike? Which trials should I buy? Trials bikes for beginners. Mototrials bikes for kids. Two stroke or four stroke trials bikes? …There’s a twin-shock class for trials bikes built before about 1985. Which is the best trials bike for beginners? Brands like Oset have electric trials bikes for kids which have a decent battery life with the added advantage of being able to ride in the back yard without annoying the neighbours. The mono shock trials bikes are around 1985 and on – these have become lighter and more capable every year. Four stroke trials bikes v two stroke trials bikes! There is a wide range to choose from, it’s hard to make a mistake! Trials is mostly about rider skill and not the bike you are on so don’t stress too much about making the right choice. Classic trials bike classes exist for vintage bikes built before 1965. Some riders prefer four-strokes – the pros and cons are similar when looking at dirt bikes. In a nutshell, the advantages are a tamer engine response, usually quieter if practicing in the back yard, more engine braking, fewer engine rebuilds, no messing around with oil, and better fuel economy. If you also plan on some trail riding then four strokes are generally smoother and quieter on open trials at a consistent speed. Adults are also finding backyard practice possible now that adult-sized bikes are emerging. Electric trials bikes now have mproved battery life, weight and the addition of clutches have the electric bikes fast approaching the abilities of their petrol-driven cousins. See the trials forums for more information on various brands such as Electric Motion, Gas Gas, Oset, Beta and Mecatecno. The drawbacks are they are more expensive, slightly heavier and engine overhauls will be more expensive and time-consuming (although it takes ages to wear any trials engine out!). Trials is not racing. They are very similar to the bikes ridden by world champion riders such as Toni Bou. Trial riders compete in all sorts of weather conditions! Trials riding must be the best kept secret in the world of motorbikes. Honda and Yamaha also manufacture modern trials bikes. Get into these trials training vids. Modern trials bikes are mostly manufactured in Europe by makes such as Gas Gas, Beta, Scorpa, Montesa and Sherco. Very light, low seat height and lots of power. Second-hand models with monoshock rear suspension and front disc brake can be bought for around $1,400 – $2,500. Trials tyres are super soft compound, and run tyre pressures of about 4-6 psi. There are trials classes for everyone. Moto trials is the only motorcycling sport that you can compete in at “Masters Games” level! Trials (specific) bikes are specially made high-tech machines.

It is simply you and your bike pitted against the terrain. The diabolical crew who mark out trials sections are sure to put a sharp turn right at the bottom of that steep slope!Your arms will be almost straight but don’t lock your elbows as you will still need to steer.
